Minnesota Power Foundation — Positively Powerful Scholarship Fund
The Minnesota Power Foundation’s Positively Powerful Scholarship Fund awards need-based grants to qualified students within Minnesota Power’s service territory. Recipients are chosen for their honesty, scholastic success, and demonstrated grit and perseverance. The program aims to lower the financial hurdles to postsecondary education while supporting an economically healthy and culturally rich talent pipeline across northeast and central Minnesota.
Eligibility
- Residency and school requirement: Applicants must be graduates of a Minnesota high school located in the Minnesota Power service area and currently live in one of these counties: Aitkin, Benton, Carlton, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Morrison, Otter Tail, Pine, St. Louis, Stearns, Todd, or Wadena.
- Program of study: Candidates should be working toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Accounting, Business, Economics, Education, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or Technology. Applicants pursuing AA/AS degrees in Business or STEM-related fields are also eligible.
- Eligible schools: Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following institutions: Central Lakes College; the College of St. Scholastica; Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College; Hibbing Community College; Iron Range Engineering; Itasca Community College; Lake Superior College; Leech Lake Tribal College; Mesabi Range College; Rainy River Community College; the University of Minnesota Duluth; or Vermilion Community College.
- Financial and academic criteria: Applicants must demonstrate financial need with an expected family contribution (EFC) of no more than $25,000, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and provide evidence of perseverance and determination.
