Since the inception of our firm, our dedicated team has ceaselessly strived to serve our local community. We collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each one possessing a distinct and profound narrative. The Superior Citizen Scholarship and Composition Competition are designed to empower proven community leaders and conscientious citizens to further their education to enhance their causes. We take great pride in facilitating the dialogue on exemplary citizenship for the seventh consecutive year. It is deeply meaningful to us to extend educational advantages to those who exemplify extraordinary citizenship. The composition competition and its accompanying $1,000 scholarship are accessible to individuals across the U.S. who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Qualifications
- Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll by Fall 2025 in an accredited post-secondary program. This includes community colleges, private or public undergraduate colleges and universities, private or public graduate degree programs, law programs, and business programs. If the competition winner cannot provide proof of enrollment at the time of scholarship distribution, a new winner will be chosen.
- Employees of Maryland Criminal Defense Group, their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and individuals residing in the same household (whether related or not) are not permitted to participate in this contest.
- Applicants for this scholarship must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and maintain good overall academic standing.
- All applicants must exhibit a proven dedication to citizenship as evidenced by their essay and resume.
Submission Guidelines
- The applicant must complete the form below, providing all necessary details.
- The applicant must submit an essay of 500-1,000 words answering the question: What is one of the most significant ways an individual can contribute to their community, and how have you contributed to your community in this manner?
- Please be advised that all essays will be scrutinized for AI writing. If AI writing is detected in the essay, the application will be rejected.
- The applicant must provide an updated resume that outlines academic, professional, and volunteer experiences focusing on community service and citizenship.
- The applicant must present a current official academic transcript demonstrating a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Note: Applicants unable to provide an official transcript from their current institution may submit an unofficial transcript from their current institution and an official transcript from their previous school.)
- Preference will be extended to students originally from or attending secondary school in the state.
The Superior Citizen Scholarship recipient will be selected in the month following the scholarship deadline of September 30, 2025.
