Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD, a reputable law firm, annually provides a $1,500 scholarship to a U.S. military veteran's child.
The application period for the scholarship is currently underway and will conclude on December 31st, 2025.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The scholarship is open to any student who fulfills the following requirements:
- They must be the legal (biological or adopted) child of a veteran from any branch of the U.S. military service (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard). The student should be either:
- A high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, or
- A student currently enrolled in an accredited community college or undergraduate degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
APPLICATION PROCESS
We highly recommend that any student who meets the above eligibility criteria apply for the Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD Child of an American Veteran Scholarship. To apply, complete the form below and submit the required information.
- Fill out the scholarship application form. The form is available on this page.
- Provide proof of your parent’s veteran status. If you're submitting a document containing sensitive information (e.g., SSN), ensure it's a redacted copy. The following documents can be used as proof of veteran status:
- VA disability benefits summary letter
- DD214
- Military discharge certificate
- Submit your current transcript.
- If you're currently enrolled in college, provide a transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- If you're not currently enrolled in college, provide a current high school transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher AND a copy of the college/university acceptance letter indicating your intention to enroll.
- Write a 500-word essay (maximum). Respond to one of the following prompts:
- How has being part of a military family influenced your educational and career goals?
- What guidance would you offer to a younger child growing up in a military family?
- What do you think is the most crucial action our society can take to assist veterans and their families?
All applications must adhere to the provided instructions and the Scholarship Terms & Conditions.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
The final date to submit your application for the Child of an American Veteran Scholarship is December 31st. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.
The scholarship committee will evaluate all complete applications. The winner will be notified via email or phone.
