Introduction
The Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship supports Asian American students at the high school, graduate and post-graduate levels who are pursuing careers in entrepreneurship. Established in 2016 through the generosity of entrepreneurs Grace and Ranier Pabilona, the award provides U.S. students enrolled at accredited American institutions with scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Award Amount
- $1,000 to $5,000, to be applied toward tuition and related school fees.
Who May Apply — General Eligibility
- At least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander heritage.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Either a high school senior or a full-time student at an accredited U.S. vocational school, community/junior college, or four-year college/university. Applicants must be enrolled full-time and be pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree by the upcoming academic year.
- Open to students from any academic major.
- Demonstrated leadership through community service, extracurricular activities, or similar involvement.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 (unweighted) scale.
- Immediate family members of Board members are not eligible.
Business-Specific Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must own and operate a small business.
- The business must have been active for at least one year and must have produced revenue for the most recent six consecutive months.
- Applicants must submit a business plan and/or provide a link to the business website plus all relevant social media profiles.
How Applications Are Evaluated
- Strength and clarity of the written submission (essay).
- Current business status and the enterprise’s potential economic impact.
- Academic record.
- Leadership and community service history and contributions.
- Letters of recommendation.
- A phone or in-person interview with the selection committee.
