Introduction
The BHW Group is pleased to offer the Women in STEM Academic Scholarship. Below you’ll find who may apply, important deadlines, and answers to common questions about the application process and award disbursement.
Eligibility
- Open to individuals who identify as women and who will be enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) program during the 2024 academic year.
- Eligible study levels include undergraduate, second-degree, master’s, and doctoral programs (postgraduate students may apply).
- Applicants may be incoming college students (e.g., high school juniors or seniors who will be attending college next year); if you have not yet chosen a school, list your status as “Undecided.”
Key Dates
- Applications become available in January.
- Submission deadline: April 15 (annually).
- Scholarship recipient will be announced on May 15.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Will I receive an email confirming my submission?
- No. Your application is considered submitted once you reach the confirmation screen that displays the message "YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED!"
- How early can I apply? Can high school juniors or seniors apply?
- Yes. If you will be attending college next year, you are eligible to apply.
- Can post-graduate, second-degree, master’s, or doctorate students apply?
- Yes — applicants at those levels are eligible.
- Are international students eligible?
- International students may apply only if they will attend a U.S.-based institution. Programs that are U.S.-based but include study-abroad components are acceptable. If your college is not a U.S.-based organization, you are not eligible at this time.
- What do you mean by “app”?
- “App” refers to any mobile or web-based application, including social or utility platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, Google Maps, YouTube, etc.
- How is the scholarship paid out?
- Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s school. We cannot send award money directly to applicants; there are no exceptions.
- Can I apply before I decide which college I will attend?
- Yes. Put “Undecided” for your school choice. If you become a finalist, we will contact you in May to confirm your selected institution before issuing the award.
