Each year, the Richard F. Walsh/Alfred W. Di Tolla/Harold P. Spivak Foundation's Board of Trustees is delighted to present ten scholarships. Recipients of these scholarships will receive a total of $10,000, distributed in increments of $2,500 annually over a span of four years. With the inclusion of the 2024 awards, the Foundation has been able to aid 130 students in their quest for a college education.

Applications for the Annual Scholarship of the Richard F. Walsh/Alfred W. Di Tolla/Harold P. Spivak Foundation must be submitted by the firm deadline of December 31st each year, with no exceptions. To be eligible for the scholarship, completed applications must either arrive by the deadline or bear a postmark dated December 31st. Supplemental documents, such as an official high school transcript, recommendation letters, and a list of extracurricular activities with corresponding roles and responsibilities, should be submitted by the first week of March in the subsequent year.

Q: What are the eligibility requirements?

A: To qualify for the Richard F. Walsh/Alfred W. Di Tolla/Harold P. Spivak Foundation scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a child of an IATSE member in good standing (grandchildren are not eligible);
  • Be a high school senior at the time of application (those who have already begun college or university or who plan to start a year after graduation cannot apply); and
  • Have applied or be in the process of applying to an accredited college or university as a fully matriculated student pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

A: Absolutely, Canadian students are welcome to apply.

Q: What is the application process?

A: It's straightforward! Simply download and fill out the application. Once completed, send it along with your official high school transcript, recommendation letter(s), and a list of your extracurricular activities to the Foundation Office. Please note that applications sent via email will not be accepted.

Q: What is the application deadline?

A: Applications must be received or postmarked by December 31 each year. The recipients of the scholarships will be informed on or before the subsequent June and their names will be published in the next edition of The Official Bulletin.
