Ray Smith Scholarship

Introduction The Ray Smith Scholarship was created to honor exceptional high school academic achievement and meaningful community involvement among students connected to the trucking industry in Colorado. The award is intended for students and family members of individuals working in the Colorado trucking industry or employed by CMCA member companies. Program overview This is an annual scholarship administered by the Colorado Motor Carriers Foundation. Member companies are strongly encouraged to share information about the program with their driver, mechanic, and safety management teams so eligible candidates can apply. The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors or returning students planning to continue their education at an accredited college or at a technical/diesel/mechanical school. Eligibility - Hold a high school diploma or a GED. - Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. About Ray Smith Ray Smith was a forward-thinking member of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association who championed education as a way to strengthen the state’s trucking industry by expanding its pool of trained managers and technical specialists. The Ray Smith Scholarship has supported many students over the years. Ongoing contributions come from the Safety Management Council, the Maintenance Council, the Allied Conference, and numerous generous CMCA member companies. The Colorado Motor Carriers Association gratefully acknowledges these contributions.
