Excellence in Accounting New York Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by New York State Society of CPA's

Value: $2,500.00
Awards Available: 60

Introduction
The Moynihan Scholarship Fund (MSF), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, awards scholarships for accounting students based on demonstrated financial need and academic achievement. MSF also administers NYCPA Chapter Scholarships, which are supported by contributions from NYCPA members and other donors. Each chapter scholarship has its own eligibility rules — please review those carefully. You can apply for both NYCPA Chapter Scholarships and the Excellence in Accounting Scholarships using the same application link.

Award amounts and distribution
- Students may be eligible for more than one scholarship simultaneously.
- Individual MSF awards vary in size, with the maximum award capped at $2,500.
- MSF aims to send scholarship funds to recipients’ schools before the end of the fall semester; if that is not possible, funds will be disbursed by the end of the spring semester at the latest.

Required application materials
To be considered for the Excellence in Accounting Scholarships (and other MSF awards), applicants must submit the following materials to scholarship@moynihanfund.org:
- 2025–2026 student aid report (SAR)
- Financial award letter from your school
- Official university transcript

Essay and recommendations
- A personal statement (maximum 400 words) describing your background, professional goals, volunteer involvement, and reasons you deserve the scholarship. The same essay may be submitted for multiple awards if you qualify.
- Contact information for individuals who will provide letters of recommendation. When completing the recommendation section, applicants are encouraged to select “Request now” so that recommenders receive the request immediately.

Eligibility and application steps
- To submit an application for any scholarship listed on this page, you must be an NYCPA Student Member. Membership is free and can be obtained at NYCPA Student Membership.
- Every section of the online application must be completed in full by the student applicant.
- Additional eligibility details and award-specific criteria are embedded within the application itself.
